Stay Safe on the Road this St. Patty’s Day

by Tim O’Hare

St. Patty’s day is here, the time of year we all pay tribute to the traditionally rich Irish heritage.  This spring holiday has become associated with corn beef and cabbage, green shamrocks, dancing Leprechauns and plenty of Irish singing and beer drinking.  This special day is exciting and often enjoyed with a little extra time with friends and family. The energy runs wild, sometimes a little too wild.

It’s important to remember your safety on this day.  With quite a few patrons drinking since the early morning hours, the chance for accidents becomes increasingly stronger. Drunk drivers will likely be on the roads at all times of the day and unfortunately, will cause drunk driving accidents, bringing the excitement to a tragic halt.  With all of that being said, here are some tips for protecting yourself against drunk driving accidents:

  1. Know that drunk drivers are out there.  Although the police will be out in full force it’s probably good to stay off the roads late at night when all the celebrators head home.
  2. If you do end up drinking alcohol, be sure to have a designated driver who can take your entire party home.
  3. Set up a St. Patty’s Day party at home, invite your friends and, if you serve alcohol, reserve cabs so they can get home safe.
  4. If you or someone you love ends up in a car wreck and injuries occur, contact a Dallas personal injury attorney right away. An accident can occur at any moment, and it’s never something we think could happen to us.  But, if you’re out on the road, this St. Patrick’s Day, it’s important to know you have an option to call your trusted Dallas personal injury lawyer to help you with your case.

Have fun, enjoy the festivities and be safe!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
