By Tim O’Hare, Dallas Personal Injury Attorney
I am a firm believer in capitalism. Capitalism is the foundation of the American dream. People working hard and making money is what makes America great. The notion that you can get rich or make a great living if you put hard work into it is a notion that I believe in.
Unfortunately, in the name of money, low-level employees are frequently put at risk. We regularly read news stories about construction accidents resulting in the untimely death of a young father. This morning, in Lewisville, Texas, 2 people were killed and 2 others seriously injured when a concrete pumping truck collapsed on the workers. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/062510dnmetlewaccident.d4a313c1.html
I have no idea if the employer here was negligent. It is entirely possible that one of the employees made a terrible mistake. Sometimes accidents happen and no one is at fault. Other times, a machine or piece of equipment malfunctions. My heart goes out to the families and individuals affected by this terrible tragedy.
People give lawyers who handle injury cases a bad name. For some of those lawyers, they derserve a bad name. Yet, if it wasn’t for injury lawyers, far more people would be injured or horrifically maimed while on-the-job. By holding unscrupulous companies accountable, injury lawyers save lives. It is that simple. The threat of a lawsuit and subsequently having to pay damages is often enough to force corporations and small businesses to go the extra mile to assure employee safety.
Ethical, responsible personal injury lawyers, like the ones at The Law Offices of Tim O’Hare, know how to separate legitimate claims from non-legitimate ones. I cannot tell you how many people have contacted my office over the years providing details of horrible work conditions and safety lapses that would make your head spin, resulting in catastrophic injuries and lost lives. By representing those who have suffered catastrophic injuries and the families of those who have lost loved ones, my firm has played a small, but important part in making the area around us a safer place.
If you, or someone you know has suffered a serious injury as a result of a work injury, please give us a call to dicuss the case. You may not only help yourself or a friend, but you may save others in the future from a similar fate.
